About Aetheryl Labs
A one-person shop built on relationships, documentation, and genuinely helping people get back to what they do best.
I got my start in the early 1990s, growing up alongside this technology. By the late nineties I was learning the web, and in 2002 I administered my first successful website. From there it was a formal path through basic, C, C++, and Cisco networking in high school — and then decades of practical work.
Over the years I have built websites from the ground up, handled server backups and migrations, debugged scripts, and done everything in between. My comfort zone is systems administration and DevOps. I have spent time even inside the research world building databases, tools, and automation to keep large mouse research studies, project management, and lab administration organized.
My approach
- Proactive, not reactive. I design so problems do not happen, then document so you can understand what is running.
- Root cause, best practice. The band-aid saves the hour; the root cause saves the year.
- Communicate at your level. I am the technical translator who tailors the answer to the listener.
- Show up and be present. Good support is more about consistency, authenticity, and follow-through than about the ticket queue.
How I like to work
I work case-by-case. Residential clients and businesses that prefer to stay non-committal can hire me hourly — with the honest caveat that you are not at the front of the line. Monthly contracts get priority support, and the real investment comes from the fact that I take the time to understand your business, its needs, and its goals — often turning that understanding into automation, integrations, web work, and administration that quietly pays for itself.
A professor once described me as "technically knowledgeable yet matching a non-geek personality: the empathetic and compassionate person you admire in others." I treat that as a job description.
